  • A look back across the sector in 2019
  • Trends for the sector in 2020… from a commercial/legal/financing perspective
  • What these trends mean for Brazil
  • A specific focus on existing energy facilities (and the O&M view) and on confirmed major energy projects

Richard Swinburn is a partner at, and former managing partner of, Reed Smith`s London office. Richard has been working in the Energy and Natural Resources sector all his career – advising producers, commodity trading companies and banks in connection with all aspects of their commodities-related business. Richard supports many of the world’s leading companies as they assess the risks associated with new ventures, as they structure and document their commercial arrangements surrounding the marketing of energy products/agri commodities/metals and ores and as and when disputes arise. He has been advising clients in relation to their Brazilian businesses for more than 25 years.

Laura Souza is a partner at Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice Advogados. Laura has extensive experience in the Brazilian energy sector. Laura provides advice on Brazilian energy law and regulation, either to Brazilian or to international companies with operations in Brazil or who are considering investing in the sector in Brazil.  Her practice spans all energy sector-related activities - generation, distribution, transmission and trading.

 

 

Stuart Broadley is CEO of the EIC, the Energy Industries Council. Prior to joining EIC in 2016, Stuart enjoyed a successful 25-year career leading global O&M businesses in oil & gas, power and renewables with Rolls-Royce, Wood, Senvion and Hoerbiger. Passionate about exporting and energy transition, Stuart is author of the renowned Survive & Thrive annual report which highlights successful growth strategies in a downturn and is co-founder of business scale up programme Fit4Energy. Stuart has various non-executive director roles including with the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in UK and the Nuclear Innovation & Research Advisory Board.
