Élcio Gomes Rocha is the Chief-Economist of Banco do Brasil, currently Latin America’s largest Financial Institution, whose headquarter is located in Brasilia - Brazil.

Having a Master's Degree in Economics from University of Brasilia (UnB) he has served for years as Macroeconomics Professor in Brasilia.

He has worked in Banco do Brasil since 1987. In 2000 he joined a work group which gathered the Bank's top economists whose outcome was the set up of the Management of Economic Advisory, which is the responsible department for studies, monitoring and macroeconomics scenario for both internal and international affairs.

He took office as Chief-Economist in 2010.
