Mr Alex Ellis has been appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Federative Republic of Brazil. He will succeed Mr Alan Charlton CMG, CVO. Mr Ellis will take up his appointment in July 2013. Mr Ellis joined the FCO in 1990 and has worked on EU and global issues both in the FCO, most recently as Director of Strategy, and in the private office of the President of the European Commission. He speaks fluent Portuguese.
