World oil and gas outlook for 2020: the role of Brazil as a key energy player

9 October 2012

Brazil is one of the 10 largest energy-consuming countries in the world and is an exciting destination for investment. Gas consumption growth over the last 10 years has been robust, 8.2% per annum. The large pre-salt discoveries will require investment in excess of $ 400 billion from Petrobras and international companies over the next 5 years. Will Brazil be an importer or exporter of natural gas? Will Brazil become one of the 5 largest oil exporters by 2020?

The speakers from Gas Energy and Argus provided an overview of Brazil's energy and natural gas demand and the impact of Brazil's oil production in the world oil supply and demand. Petrobras provided an overview of the company's current trading activities in Europe.
