Spotlight on Brazil

28 June 2012

Successfully doing business in Brazil

Brazil's rapid rise as a highly attractive region for investment shows no signs of slowing and it is now a priority market for the UK government to expand bi-lateral commerce.

Increased political and macroeconomic stability, significant public and private sector investment, and successful bids to host the world's largest sporting events, including the 2014 FIFA World Cup and Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, are resulting in vast growth opportunities.

A panel of Deloitte experts  discussed how to successfully do business in Brazil and how to navigate the challenges and pitfalls often faced by organisations when entering this market.

Guest speakers, Bill Hanway from AECOM, shared his firsthand experience of winning the bid to create a vision for Rio’s Olympic Park and his dealings with the Brazilian and UK governments, and Jaime Gornsztejn, Head of Brazilian Development Bank, BNDES and Chairman of the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, discussed Financing and Capital opportunities.

This event took place on 28th June 2012 at Deloitte House.

Speakers:

  • John Auton, Lead Partner Major Sporting Events, Deloitte Brazil
  • Bill Hanway, Executive Director Operations, AECOM
  • Jaime Gornsztejn, Head of Brazilian Development Bank, BNDES, UK
