Brazil is rapidly emerging as a global leader in biogas and biomethane, leveraging its vast agricultural resources, strong bioenergy legacy, and ambitious climate goals. The country has over 1,365 biogas plants with a production capacity of 4.15 billion cubic meters annually, primarily used for electricity and biomethane production. Brazil has implemented several progressive policies to boost biogas, such as the Future Fuels Law (2024), the Methane Zero Program & Federal Strategy (2022), and the GEF Biogas Brazil Project.

This Biogas Seminar will provide valuable insights into biogas’ strategic role as one of the pillars to decarbonise the world.
