Due to the existence of significant trade barriers and subsidies in developed countries, Brazil has adopted a more aggressive position on agriculture at the World Trade Organization (WTO), bringing three high-profile dispute cases against developed countries and taking a leadership role in ongoing trade negotiations by forming a coalition of developing countries known as the G-20
